Origin and Founder

Mendu Murali: Founder MRDS, was an ordinary person driven by an extraordinary dream - the dream that no Indian child would be deprived of rights as basic as survival, participation, protection and development. Mendu Murali got upset to see the disparities that exist between privileged and underprivileged children. He hated to see children begging and working as servants. Unlike most of us, though, he did something about it. In his case, the action started young.

People At MRDS

People are the core of this foundation. Be it the trustees who are the guardians of MRDS ethos, or the members of its Managing Committee (MANCOM) who steer the organization to its designated goals, or the employees and volunteers who use their commitment, time and skills to enable MRDS's work or our NGO partners, people who make extraordinary change possible through their work. All of these people make MRDS what it is today - a true people's movement for the rights of India's children.

MRDS has achieved its target to the organisation's ability to continually attract, retain and develop a cadre of talented, committed professionals who come from all walks of life ie. Chartered accountants, post-graduates in Social Work, communications professionals, bankers, HR specialists, salespeople, MBA-types, geeks, artists, writers, foodies from every ethnic, linguistic, religious and ideological persuasion. This diversity, coupled with an unrelenting commitment to build a culture of openness, transparency, accountability and democracy within the organization makes MRDS. A centre of moral values and the opportunities for personal and professional learning e what attract and keep people in jobs paying a fraction of their market value.

Teams in MRDS

We have been able to not only accomplish numerous milestones but also create an institution that is a unique model of a community movement that takes responsibility for its weakest and most vulnerable members and motivates the changes on their behalf.

We work in partnership with individuals and organizations, whom we support financially / non-financially as well as with you, people from all walks of life, who believe in the rights of children. Within MRDS too, each function works in unison towards ensuring our vision - equal rights for all children.

The functions of Development Support and Resource Mobilisation along with the other functions - Communications, Human Resources & Administration, Youth, Volunteer action, Finance, Planning and Information Technology, Policy and Research, Documentation, MRDS World - all play a critical role in our organization.
